Created by tableware designer and gourmet cook Debbie Segura in 2001, Sorrento is perhaps Signature Houseware's most popular dinnerware pattern. Sorrento stoneware suits almost any kitchen décor with its rustic, Italian countryside feel, showing a raised dot and olive leaf patterning on most of the solid-colored, thickly-glazed pieces. Square plates are also available, and bakeware and glassware complete the extensive collection, now available in more than half a dozen colors ranging from neutral suede to bright ruby red.

The Sorrento 11-inch round dinner plate (a square version is also available) forms the heart of the place setting. The rimmed plate features a row of raised dots all along the very edge, with Sorrento's signature three-leaf design spaced at regular intervals. Perfect for everyday dining yet attractive enough for special occasions, the plates set a striking table with the wealth of coordinating pieces available. Completely lead-free, the chip-resistant stoneware may go in a low-temperature oven or a microwave for warming food, and cleans up without fuss in the dishwasher. Several years ago I purchased 12 dinner plates, 12 salad plates, 12 cereal bowls, 12 mugs, and a number of extra pieces in ivory, including the canister set, serving bowls, and casserole dish. I loved the pattern on the dishes and didn't mind the subtle variations in coloring. However, even though it says microwave safe on the dishware, after using small plates to warm up leftovers, the dishes started crazing. I immediately stopped using dishes in the microwave, but the crazing continued to get worse. I noticed over time, washing the dishes in the dishwasher caused crazing also because the large plates had never been put in the microwave. It appears that the dishware can't withstand a lot of heat & is not microwave or dishwasher safe. I am really disappointed in the appearance of my dishes now after a few years of use. The lines and marks that are on the dishes now are very ugly.
